A Father's Story

Hugh G. McKay III throughout his professional civil engineering career traveled the world working with mission hospitals in third world countries.

The finished product. Papa New Guinea gold melted down into customized pendants. Handwritten script reads "Love Daddy."

He designed hydroelectric systems to generate consistent power supplies for these hospitals that otherwise relied on diesel generators to power the hospitals twenty-four hours a day. The lack of electricity hindered the hospital's ability to provide safe, sanitary and consistent medical care to its villages.

In 1993 while working in Papua New Guinea, Hugh was approached by a missionary and asked if he would like to take home some Papua New Guinea gold. He was intrigued by the opportunity and brought two nuggets of gold back to the USA with him.

Twenty-four years later Hugh asked Donald Haack Diamonds to help design four pieces of jewelry with the Papua New Guinea gold. 

He wanted to give his four daughters something that would remind them of his great adventures through his work as an engineer for mission hospitals. 

Donald Haack Diamonds designed four gold bar necklaces featuring his love for the girls with his signature, "Love Daddy."

These necklaces are a reminder of the great work and dedication of a man who loves God and family and helped make the world a better place.
